Expect Variety

In truth, the responses are almost a varied as the people you may meet in a day, numerous.

I have facilitated group sound baths where each person has had a different experience or response to the hour-long session:

  1. one person may fall asleep are dream,
  2. another feels deep relaxation but is aware of every sound,
  3. another drifts into meditation and becomes unaware of the percussive sounds
  4. another sees swirling colors behind their closed eyelids that changes with each tone,
  5. another is overcome with laughter, and
  6. another is filled with strong emotion and cries
  7. and much more.
“Each sound bath experience is unique to each person, and different each time.”

The responses vary. Clients have reported even more responses, and others are well documented:

everyone in the room may hae a different experience

Physiological Responses:

tickle in throat during the Professional need to go to the bathroom (deep relaxation has a positive effect on internal organs and systems)...slowing is respiration and heart decrease in blood pressure...sensations of warmth or cold around the body or tingling (often in the extremities)

Emotional and Cognitive Responses:

Feelings of mental clarity or increased problem-solving ability...sudden insight into problems or challenges...unexpected feelings or thoughts (rumination may occur)... some participants may feel agitated or uncomfortable.

Sound & Art:

I often recommend that follow the session, the participant write down their emotions or insights, and whenever possible, make artwork that corresponds to the experience. I took this technique from my training in Art therapy, and have used it in my meditation and art sessions with adults. One piece, Paradise Isle is pictured above.

Sounds about right for me. I have felt calm and completely relaxed at on e sound bath, and then lost myself completely in the experience another time. Thanks for sharing this.
